EXECS IN YOUTH SPORTS LAUNCH ATHLETE MANAGEMENT AGENCY FOCUSED ON EMERGING TALENT, KENDRICK PERKINS TO CHAIR ADVISORY BOARD
DALLAS, TEXAS (Nov 13, 2023) - Today, several prominent sports professionals including NCAA/NBA analyst & evaluator Rashad Phillips, The Circuit founder Derrick Shelby, and former CMO of rSchoolToday and VNN, Romy Glazer, are announcing the formation of Prestige Management Group, a sport venture that will identify, coach, and support student-athletes and their families in high school and college.
Together, the founding team has operated thousands of events, coached hundreds of young athletes, managed several media properties, and marketed software that millions of parents, athletes, and fans use everyday.
“In the new era of NIL and social media, we believe young athletes now need to have the proper representation and education when making career choices,” said Rashad Phillips. “PMG will help filter and foster relationships on behalf of our clients so they’ll be able to focus on academics and athletics, and help them grow through our wide-ranging network of star athletes, business owners, branding professionals, and thought-leaders.”
With a mission to help emerging athletes maximize their potential, the company plans to help clients and their families navigate school selection, transfer portal considerations, preparation for a transition to professional leagues, and the NIL and media landscapes, all of which have experienced disruptive change in recent years.
Helping guide the founders will be an advisory council chaired by 14-year NBA veteran and ESPN broadcast analyst Kendrick Perkins. Perkins, who features on ESPN programming that includes NBA Today, Get Up, First Take, and SportsCenter, will ensure the venture takes an athlete-first perspective in executing its mission.
“Most families only deal with these things once,” said Kendrick Perkins. “With so much changing in our industry so quickly, creating access to resources for those families to make the right decisions is something that will have a major positive impact in sport. I’m excited to work with PMG to help fill that gap.”
