Jalen Woods is a dynamic Quarterback playing for the SOUTHERN Jaguars.
A game changing player with in the Southwestern Athletic Conference, Jalen has stepped into the starting role at Southern University as a redshirt freshman, leading the team to crucial victories with his blend of leadership, accurate arm, IQ, and poise which has turned the heads of fans and scouts alike.
During his inaugural season, the 6'1", 200 pound Woods showcased remarkable maturity and precision, boasting a 57.6% completion rate, playing a key role in a 5OT thriller victory over Bethune-Cookman, and most notably leading the Jaguars to a 31-9 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff, securing the team’s ninth SWAC West Division title. His performance in this game earned him the Player of the Game title, as he threw for over 200 yards and added a touchdown to his stat line.
From guiding the Jaguars through intense overtime battles to showcasing his talent in critical games, Jalen is celebrated for his coolness under pressure, managing to lead the team with smart decisions and arm talent, and emerging from a quarterback committee to bona-fide starter. His ability to throw on the run and make decisions in high-pressure situations have been crucial in securing wins.
